Old Pharmacy, The Description

An engaging little place in the middle of Solva where the cuisine ranges around a fairly wide international sweep but always seems to come back home to Wales. Which is good. Check out the bouillabaisse, a real classic fish soup before going on to the quite delicious bean, lentil and sweet potato curry. To finish go for the lemon syllabub made with sweet wine, brandy, lemon and cream whip on almond biscuit. There are ten house wines from £10.95, several by the small or large glass, with a smallish but well-travelled list at sensible prices.

The Old Pharmacy is a delight. The ingredients are locally sourced, cooked with care and served by friendly and attentive staff. Local reviews in the cottage visitor’s book talked of them being pricey but I felt we got good value for money and the vegetarians raved about the onion bhaji dish. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.

I went to this restaurant with high expectations, as friends recommended me. It was everything they said - warm, friendly, great music and the food was out of this world. I stayed in St. Davids on a week’s holiday and ate at the old Pharmacy thrice, each being as good as the first. The cost was not as expensive and you could spend as much or as little as you like. This is definitely one not to be missed.
