Olde Oast, The Description

For sheer pleasure in eating simply cooked superb food, there aren't many cuisines that can supersede traditional English fare. The Olde Oast at Ashford is a restaurant where you can enjoy a leisurely meal with your family or an intimate dinner à deux with equal pleasure.

Familiar starters like prawn cocktail or homemade devilled kidneys tend to unleash a wave of nostalgia, while the whole chicken breast wrapped in bacon or the unassuming pork chops in the mains make a hearty meal. Roast dinners on Sundays, served with vegetables, new potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy, are an eagerly awaited attraction for those to whom tradition is important

Child friendly meals such as toad in the hole or bangers and mash could help settle down the little ones, while you sip on a glass of wine or beer from the extensive drinking list. A daily changing dessert menu adds variety, or you could just choose from the selection of ice cream or sorbet to end your meal.

Your Reviews of Olde Oast, The

Hilary Alford (23 October 2008)

We held a party at the Olde Oast this year for my husband’s sixtieth birthday. The buffet was exceptional and the management went out of their way to cater for the various ages, and dietary requirements of our guests. The chocolate fondue and fruit were a real hit with the children and ladies. The restaurant has a section at the end where we were able to dance to a singer. It seems they can arrange a disco for you if you prefer. The party flowed onto the terrace area, where many of our guests enjoyed the summer evening. The roundel housed the buffet and the members of staff were amazing, very efficient and approachable. We have had many other meals there since then and can really recommend the menu. We have a large noisy family and often book the roundel to give us our privacy, and the children the freedom to make as much noise as they want to, without offending other diners.
