For a taste of genuine Italian cooking in deepest Surrey, then you should take yourself - and your friends - along to Olivetto "ristorante and wine bar" and take advantage of the opportunity to sample some of Italy's finest traditional cuisine.

Their chefs have brought with them some of their favourite recipes passed down from generation to generation, and, unlike in many other places, all their dishes are freshly made to order, also should you have any special requirements then just let the waiter know and they would be happy to try and oblige you.

As you might expect, in the normal Italian way, children are always especially welcomed, and a real fuss is made of them.

All the pasta is freshly made by their chefs in the traditional Italian style with choices like linguine served with prawns, langoustine scampi, mussels, tomato, garlic and brandy sauce or penne cooked with aubergine and courgette with garlic, tomato and scamorza (smoked mozzarella) cheese or individually handmade ravioli filled with spinach, mixed herbs and ricotta cheese in a warmed walnut sauce.

However, the menu is wide ranging, from starters like bresaola della valtellina - a platter of air dried beef on a bed of rocket dressed with balsamic vinegar and parmesan shavings to crema di salmone - a terrine of smoked salmon, parmesan, celery and walnuts, served with hot crostini, definitely not your standard Italian fare.

Main courses specials could include pollo primavera, corn fed sautéed chicken with aubergine, cooked ham and peas in white wine, onion and cream sauce; grilled swordfish loin served with prawn tails, mussels and clams in a light white wine and tomato sauce or grilled lamb steak in a delicate rosemary, garlic, extra virgin olive oil and mustard sauce.

But leave room for their desserts like tiramisu, pannacotta or the delicious sounding tortino alle albicocche, a light pastry case filled with apricot and topped with caramelised cream.
