My wife and I came across Olsen Cafe quite by chance. We hadn't thought of buying lunch in Totnes as we had brought some sandwiches, but one look at the menu persuaded us to change our minds. We went for the Scandinavian Platter for two, it was delicious, well presented and generous, good value for money.The first course was marinated herring with rye bread, onions etc, followed by the main course of a selection of fish and meat (ingredients for open sandwiches) with beetroot, red cabbage, cucumber etc. with rye and white bread. The service was very good and the staff friendly. My wife is Norwegian and she can vouch for the authenticity of the dishes. We had decided to go back later in the week as I wanted to try one of the warm dishes and my wife had her eye set upon the Danish apple cake, but we left it rather late and couldn't find a parking space. We will certainly visit there again next year.

It’s an exciting addition to Totnes. Clearly considered food, well crafted and beautifully presented which is really good value. A pleasurable way to learn about Scandinavian cuisine.
