Omi's Restaurant Description

Omi's restaurant opened way back in 1976 when Indian cuisine was relatively unknown to residents of Southall. From humble beginnings to being a luxury restaurant providing scrumptious Indian food, it's been a long journey for Omi's. Enjoying the fruits of their recent refurbishment, they are delighted to welcome a mixed crowd, from families to young professionals.

If you are not quite sure what North Indian cooking is, try the speciality tava chicken or lamb cooked on a large flat griddle or the Amritsari fish, a fillet of cod shallow-fried with a dry masala in butter. Vegetarians would be happy to see aloo methi, a classic potato and fenugreek dish or the vegetable kofta, a succulent Kashmiri style curry cooked in a delicious yogurt-cream sauce.

The restaurant stocks Tusker Beer imported from Kenya, and also serves up Cobra on draught, and Kingfisher by the bottle. it is worth noting that they have been in the top 100 Indian restaurants in the UK for more than ten years running in Pat Chapman's Cobra Good Curry Guide.

Your Reviews of Omi's Restaurant

Alison M (20 August 2009)

Omi's provide an excellent catering service as well as restaurant. They catered for my birthday party, and the food was delicious and very good value for money, everyone commented on the quality. They also provide all the dishes for serving food and even waiters if you want. The service was friendly throughout. It is highly recommended.

Peter Brown (11 July 2009)

We ate there tonight. The menu refreshingly says what you are going to get, none of this loquacious nonsense of 'luscious lamb, tenderly cooked in ...'. You choose, you order, and believe me, you get. The food is sublime.

I had tandoori chicken and the king prawns - the biggest I've seen in an Indian restaurant. My partner had vegetables and a lamb dish - I forget which but everything was first-rate. I can thoroughly recommend Omi's. There is no view, so it's probably not somewhere for a first date. Instead if you want to enjoy first-class cuisine and a good atmosphere, go there. It's a quick fizz from Paddington and only ten minutes from Ealing. I was so distracted by the food that I never got around to ordering a Tusker beer. That's an incentive to return!
