On The Edge

On the Edge Restaurant and Cafe Bar is situated in the picture postcard village of Newmillerdam, which is between Wakefield and Barnsley, famous for its scenic lakeside strolls and for the more adventurous - walks around the 240 acre country park and beautiful woodlands.

You can dine simply in the cafe or slightly more expensively - but still providing excellent value for money - in the restaurant. Dishes could include starters such as: smoked tuna with lemon oil coated leaves; fresh scallops sautéed in butter with shallots served on a bed of spinach with crayfish sauce or goat's cheese slightly coated with Cajun spice grilled with apple and lime dressing.

Then mains courses like: poached guinea fowl in tarragon and coconut cream sauce; rosemary lamb rosettes with spinach timbale and red currant glaze; pork and apple sausages on a bed of thyme, honey and chestnut mash or rib-eye steak with a creamy gorgonzola and shallot sauce plus fresh fish and excellent steaks, all accompanied by vegetables of the day.

They also have very reasonable fixed price menus in the evening, apart from Saturday, and Sunday lunch is a special feature.
