Orange Tree, The Description


The Orange Tree is not exactly your normal, average run-of-the-mill pub, instead it features an open kitchen, stone fired ovens and log burning fires with beautifully landscaped gardens for al fresco dining.

The menu is simple but up-to-the-minute, with lots of comfort appeal, with homely things like pizza, steaks and pasta as well as contemporary, global touches to keep things lively. The wine list contains well known favourites, alongside little numbers from around the world.

Over the summer months you can meander the day away enjoying fine food and chilled wines and beers, forgetting about the worries of work! The atmosphere at The Orange Tree is relaxed, friendly and informal, while the overall impression is of a pub which is comfortable, light and open with friendly service.

I went there on Friday with two girlfriends for girlie drink and catch up. The atmosphere was lovely, the venue rather gorgeous and we were in the restaurant part. The members of staff were all lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Good food and great wine – definitely recommended.

Before dining there last night, my previous visit was almost two years ago. What a huge difference! This was a truly classy and unique place where fresh cuisine was second to none. It is now a place where cloth napkins have disappeared, no dedicated steak knifes are provided and ketchup is served from a small Heinz bottle like in any given canteen. The beautiful decor is still there and so are the big prices which somehow are not in agreement with the pre-prepared dips of today. I was disappointed.
