Orso Description

Orso is the sister restaurant of the famous Joe Allen's and as such works hard to compete for equal publicity. In fact it has an atmosphere and charm all of its own, so really doesn't need to worry about being left in its sibling's shadow. This contemporary Italian restaurant situated in the Covent Garden area offers a good value set lunch costing £16 for two courses, or £20.50 for three. On the menu you'll find starters such as Parma ham with arugula and shaved Parmesan, or mozzarella with grilled vegetables and sun-dried tomatoes. From the main course both the spaghetti with mussels, garlic and parsley in a tomato and white wine sauce, or the grilled fillet of marinated lamb are exceptional.

Your Reviews of Orso

Frances Hopkins (21 November 2008)

Even though it was April when we visited London I can remember vividly our visit to Orso. After an exhausting day in the capital my husband and I arrived at Orso looking forward to fine Italian cuisine, and we were not disappointed. Our welcome was warm and friendly, the setting was intimate and candle lit and the atmosphere was relaxed and romantic. The restaurant filled up quickly, even though it was midnight, and the food was delicious. I ate pork and my husband had steak and I remember the wine was perfect. Our waiter and waitress suggested our desserts of cheesecake and we enjoyed these in blissful silence. Our weekend was memorable as it was the first weekend alone my husband and I had spent away from our children in our eighteen years of marriage. It was made more enjoyable by our lovely meal in a great restaurant.
