Orso
27 Wellington Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 7DB
Orso is the sister restaurant of the famous Joe Allen's and one may assume that it works hard to compete for equal publicity. In fact it has an atmosphere and charm all of its own, so really doesn't need to worry about being left in its sibling's shadow. The interior resembles a setting in Milan in the 1950s with terracotta walls and gentle lighting. Whilst at the table you could embrace some fresh and fine flavours of Italy, from the extra virgin olive oil and porcini mushrooms to buffalo mozzarella and white truffles. The kitchen also turns out some wonderful dishes like roast veal with tuna sauce and capers, venison steak with cranberries and roast potatoes, and linguine with tiger prawns, garlic, parsley, tomato and white wine.Orso is the sister restaurant of the famous Joe Allen's and one may assume that it works hard to compete for equal publicity. REVIEWS OF Orso
Frances Hopkins (21 November 2008)
Even though it was April when we visited London I can remember vividly our visit to Orso. After an exhausting day in the capital my husband and I arrived at Orso looking forward to fine Italian cuisine, and we were not disappointed. Our welcome was warm and friendly, the setting was intimate and candle lit and the atmosphere was relaxed and romantic. The restaurant filled up quickly, even though it was midnight, and the food was delicious. I ate pork and my husband had steak and I remember the wine was perfect. Our waiter and waitress suggested our desserts of cheesecake and we enjoyed these in blissful silence. Our weekend was memorable as it was the first weekend alone my husband and I had spent away from our children in our eighteen years of marriage. It was made more enjoyable by our lovely meal in a great restaurant.

Bella Italia is a restaurant that pulsates with Italian style and fashion, where the day starts with breakfast, not least the Inglese, the familiar bacon, sausage, mushroom, tomato and fried or scrambled eggs and sauté potatoes with ciabatta toast so beloved of hearty eaters seeking a good start to the day, particularly when they don't have to prepare it.
