We went for lunch having read the reviews - warm welcome, good food, ambience, value and service. Everything we wanted in a relaxing bistro. Wish we had anything as good in our town.

My partner and I had dinner at Oscar's last Tuesday - which happened to be 'Auberge Night'. For £14.50 you get three great typical French courses - very reasonable, given that three courses at Oscar's is normally £25.50. The service was second to none, Pascal, the maître d’ tended to mine and my wife's every need, topping up our wines and beer. After a light but tasty frisee salad with pancetta, we enjoyed a beautiful corn-fed chicken which was served with just the right amount of accompaniments, followed by a very fitting winter crème brûlée with a berry compote hidden away at the bottom, which rounded the meal off excellently. We often go to Oscar's on a Friday and Saturday night, I'd urge anyone to give it a try; a busy atmosphere without compromising on quality or service. Like being in your front room, if your front room was in France with a superb chef in the kitchen!
