Oslo Court
Prince Albert Road, London, NW8 7EN
To describe Oslo Court as an 'institution' would not be an overstatement. It seems to revolve round many facets of the restaurant, but in particular the quality of the service. It therefore came as no surprise for the many loyal supporters of Oslo Court to hear that their star had been given the 2003 Tio Pepe Carlton London Restaurant Award for its Outstanding Front of House Team. But of course a restaurant cannot survive on service, however far beyond the call of duty, alone. The dishes include many of the great European classics, sound, very recognisable food, deftly prepared. The dessert trolley has been the pleasurable ruin of many a sweet tooth. Believe it or not people come to London with dining at Olso Court very much at the top of their agenda. To describe Oslo Court as an 'institution' would not be an overstatement. REVIEWS OF Oslo Court
Alan (16 November 2011)
Having visited Oslo Court on numerous occasions, I can offer nothing but praise for the wonderful selection of dishes, corteous service by all of the staff, including the attentative waiters, and of course the forever flamboyant and always entertaining Neil. Tony and family are always friendly and create a very happy and enjoyable dinner experience. Credit where it is due, for this is a little haven in the middle of St John's Wood, and deserves nothing but praise. Well done to all involved. Alan.
RATTY (15 November 2011)
For the past 5 years my partner and I have celebrated our birthdays at Oslo Court. I think dining there is a marvellous experience. We have never been treated with anything other than discreet coutesy. On the one occasion we had to wait for a table we were made welcome at the bar with complimentary drinks. I really don't understand the negative reviews in relation to the food. I think anything on the menu would be a real treat. Particularly recommend the fish soups (one is creamy, the other spicy - they will prepare it with or without shellfish - they tend to have a large Jewish clientele), and the scallops (both the ones in bacon and the ones in creamy sauce are great. I had a pheasant from the specials list once, presented whole and carved at table, the lamb medallions are perfectly cooked and possibly a good choice if you don't want too huge a portion.I imagine the fish main course choices are good, as there is an excellent fish monger down the road where they probably source their fish. Two duck occaisions were both excellent. It isn't a good choice for vegetarians, which is a shame as I would love to share the whole Oslo Court experience with others who are, but it's not that sort of menu. Neil the dessert waiter is lovely, and he manages to persuade you that you can make room for a dessert, even when you don't think its physically possible. The crudities to begin and the petit fours served with coffe afterwards are a lovely touch. You can also request different vegetables from the seasonal selection if you want to. Top tip tho'- go easy on the crudities as the portions are generous to say the least! Enjoy!
