At Osteria Basilico a true taste of Italy comes to Kensington Park Road. The best pick of the starters is easily the antipasti, where for £6 you can help yourself to a buffet of fine cheeses, meats and grilled vegetables that will really get your appetite fired up.

Main courses include pizzas but for really skilled dishes try the branzino al forno con pomodoro or fettucine con tartufo bianco. Either way do test out the very affordable wine list featuring plenty of classic Italian regions.

The food was okay but a little pricey for its quality and I found the atmosphere a little disheartening. The decor is nice but the staff were not as friendly as you'd expect. I’ve spent most summers holidaying in and around Tuscany. I love my food and wine so was hoping for something special but didn’t find it. A smile goes a long way - there are some average places I'd return to just for the atmosphere and quality of service.
