Most people guess that with a name like Our Place, this lunch café is family-owned. The friendly little refuge is situated within walking distance of the North Carolina transportation museum in downtown Spencer, in a building that is a 1914 bank turned into a café. In 21st century America, customers still love its distinguishing old town appeal.

The beef steak burgers served at Our Place are considered by many to be the best in town. Other choices range from appetizers of nachos and fresh salads, to hotdogs, and a range of deli style sandwiches such as the Ruben of thin sliced corned beef with melted Swiss cheese topped with sauerkraut, thousand island and spicy mustard. Old fashioned hand dipped Hershey's ice creams are available by the bowl, as a cone or a delicious homemade milkshake.

Kids are served sandwiches of grilled ham and cheese, or peanut butter and jelly, with chips and a drink.

House special Cheerwine shakes are available at all times alongside cookies, cookie bars, and cake, all freshly baked in the café.
