Panoramic, The Description

Visit The Panoramic and you'll face one of life's most perplexing situations - whether to gaze endlessly into the mesmerizing skies or to sample the most tempting, modern European creations on the menu. As if this was not enough, the exquisite chocolate and cream interior will make you fall in love with this very stylish restaurant, said to be Britain's tallest, located on the 34th floor of Liverpool's West Tower.

You could start your evening with a pre-dinner drink or choose from a short but attractive list of cocktails. Braised pork, apple purée and lentil jus or beetroot, goats' cheese and rocket to begin, line caught sea bass, new potatoes, crème fraiche and caviar, or pheasant with Savoy cabbage to follow, and chocolate mousse, served with tangerine jelly and orange Madeleine to finish.

The Panoramic has taken dining in Liverpool to a whole new level - a hundred metres above sea level to be exact!

Veggie & 1 (2 February 2009)

We ate at the Panoramic Bar last year to celebrate an anniversary. The members of staff were very attentive and the view as dusk turned to night time was spectacular. The quality of the food was excellent but, as is often the case, there was only one veggie option which, despite the elaborate description, was essentially egg, chips and peas. Well presented, but as our bill came to £132 for two, with drinks, I'd expect something more exciting. I mentioned this to the maître’d who promised that it was something they planned to address, but a recent glance at their current menu shows that veggies, once again, are presented with no choice, in fact the single veggie main course is last year's starter.

Disappointed (10 October 2008)

Perhaps I had been expecting too much of this place. The service left a lot to be desired from the minute we stepped out of the lift, and stood a good couple of minutes hovering at the door before we were seated. We had to ask to order our drinks, as this had not been taken before we had placed our food order. The food was badly cooked, over presented, and tasteless. The wine menu was in the process of being changed, and we managed to get a bottle of our third choice. Water was spilt twice when it was being poured with no attempt to mop it up. The service was terrible; plates were being taken even though not everyone had finished eating, and the wine glasses sat empty with the bottle situated away from the table, so we could not top ourselves up. The cheese trolley smelt bad when it was wheeled past us. The toilet doors were left opened, which was not too far from the seating area.
