Pavilion Restaurant, The

Great food in a lovely setting. We took advantage of the 2 for 1 offer, so it was £20 for a 5 course meal. There were about 7 or 8 other couples there and music playing in the background, so plenty of atmosphere. The bar on the other hand was completely dead and we couldn't wait to get out of there.

The portions were just right for a five course, although the balsamic and pesto combination seems to appear with nearly every meal. The wine list was extensive with plenty of choice from around the world. We tried a NZ white (£19 or so) - it was delicious. The service was excellent, very attentive waiters.

We went to Monkey Island this week (Feb 2003). The restaurant is very large - but it was empty apart from ourselves and one other couple. We sat in a restaurant with no people in it and no background music. The food itself was very good - but this place really lacks ambience.
