The Pepper Pod, which dates back to the 1920s, began life as a modest café in Hudson and soon turned into a thriving business; a change in ownership ensured that standards were maintained and beef shortages during World War II prompted the owners to serve buffalo meat. In fact, you'd notice a bison head in the main dining room, remnants from the herd which once grazed behind the restaurant.

There are onion rings, spicy chicken wings and Rocky Mountain oysters for starters and the conventional chicken fried steak, barbecued pork ribs or rib eye steak for main course. Seafood aficionados could choose the Alaskan king crab legs or the shrimp scampi sautéed in butter and there's pasta as well - pasta cheese ravioli and primavera and spaghetti with meatballs. For breakfast tuck into their favorites, Polish sausage and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and huevos rancheros of two eggs, hash browns, green chilli and tortilla.
