Overlooking the old harbour you will find Perry's, described by that inveterate traveller Bill Bryson as 'Weymouth's outstanding restaurant'; it has become a bit of a Weymouth institution, and is the only restaurant in the town to be recognised by all the national restaurant guides. This is hardly surprising. The place bustles with fun and life, the food is excellent, while the service and decor could not be improved upon. Rather naturally, given Perry's location, there is a strong accent on the freshest of local seafood, though a wide range of tastes is catered for. The location is great – the view over the harbour from the first floor is splendid. The staff are friendly and attentive and their ingredients are of good quality. The food is well cooked and the wine list is interesting. If you only have one night in Weymouth, I recommend you eat there.

What a find - this restaurant is fabulous. The service is friendly and knowledgeable, pitched at just the right level. The wine list is really interesting, with a good range of price levels, some old favourites, some special occasion star names, and lots of interesting new names. It is clearly the work of an enthusiastic cork dork. I only wish I lived next door so that I could work my way through from top to bottom. Oh, did I mention the food? How often have you eaten in a restaurant where every dish placed in front of you exceeds your expectation? That's every course for every diner – completely and utterly plate-scrapingly delicious. If you are in the area you would be foolish not to go. If you are not in the area, it's worth the trip. Just go to Perry's.
