Here's a restaurant that serves you some incredibly fresh sushi arranged artistically in all its vibrant glory, so if you're in the mood for some Japanese fare that offers tremendously good quality at prices that won't burn your pocket, head straight to Pham Sushi. Located on Whitecross Street, this is the perfect spot to hit if you're in the vicinity of the Barbican. Service is excellent and the staff ensure that you enjoy every aspect of your meal.
The menu is seasonal and although sushi in all its forms is the mainstay, there could be other options as well for a more laidback meal. Amongst appetisers, there are spring rolls filled with minced pork and vegetables or grilled cold beef with ponzu sauce. Moving on, there could be chicken with teriyaki sauce or rock shrimp tempura in spicy sauce while noodle and rice dishes are always popular. For those on the go, the bento box at Pham Sushi proves to be a saviour and comes with miso, pickle and rice.

Looking for an affordable but high-quality Japanese restaurant in London is hard enough but in the City itself is almost impossible. Pham Sushi comes close. The Sushi plate was close to perfection. The rice was just above room temperature and the fish amazingly fresh. The tempura was crisp and hot without a hint of grease and the teppanyaki plates all excellent. The beer was ice cold, service was erratic but it didn't bother us or anyone else. The total bill, with enough to eat and many beers was £35 each, that was really not bad considering the location and quality.
