The food is simply some of the best you can have outside Italy, and the fresh and superb quality ingredients along with the Neapolitan wood stone oven, makes sure that every dish is turned out authentically.
The fritto misto with fried squid, king prawn, asparagus and roasted garlic mayonnaise is a great way to begin, and crispy duck with honey roasted apples and Valpolicella red wine sauce makes a delicious main course. Pasta options are plentiful with favourites such as spaghetti carbonara and tagliatelle alla Bolognese; dessert includes the refreshing baked vanilla cheesecake with citrus blueberries.
Predominantly Italian, the wine list at Piccolino offers a number of choices alongside spirits and liqueurs.

We ate in Piccolino last week. The food was delicious and the staff were very chatty and welcoming. The wine is a bit pricey but the restaurant had a very nice atmosphere even though we were there early. We will definitely go back.

I go to Piccolino all the time; they serve consistently good food across the gulf of vibrant dishes. To be honest, it's my favourite restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a certain friendship or kinship between staff and customer, well that is what I feel. Anyone reading this who is unsure of which restaurant to pick in Newcastle, this is certainly one of the best around if your looking for a relaxed setting, comfortable yet modern interior and remarkable food to match.
