Piccolino - Virginia Water Description

The food is simply some of the best you can have outside Italy, and the fresh and superb quality ingredients along with the Neapolitan wood stone oven, makes sure that every dish is turned out authentically.
The fritto misto with fried squid, king prawn, asparagus and roasted garlic mayonnaise is a great way to begin, and crispy duck with honey roasted apples and Valpolicella red wine sauce makes a delicious main course. Pasta options are plentiful with favourites such as spaghetti carbonara and tagliatelle alla Bolognese; dessert includes the refreshing baked vanilla cheesecake with citrus blueberries.

I have to say I was a little apprehensive about going to Piccolino when I heard it was part of a chain; however, I was thrilled when my doubts were unfounded. We were met by a charming young man and girl who offered us a chance to read the menus at the bar first, but we sat straight down. The waiter couldn't wait to tell us about the food, I thought he was Italian at first but he wasn't, still it didn't matter, the service was lovely all the way through and the food was great and clearly made fresh there as they state. I look forward to going back soon.

After going to this restaurant one Saturday night all my friends said ‘Oh no! What did you go there for, its awful?’ Yes I replied, it was. My husband was decidedly unimpressed as the restaurant manager didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in and he didn't seem to acknowledge anyone either. The food was okay but I've eaten better Italian.
