A stylish contemporary ambience full of Italian flair characterizes Piccolo Mondo in Argyle Street. A warm and relaxing setting greets guests who can enjoy a selection of classic European cuisine as well as new Mediterranean dishes. A variety of menus cater to different occasions.
Inspired by Tuscan cooking, Piccolo Mondo offers culinary creations that use seasonal ingredients. These include terrine of paté, made with chicken and duck livers and onions, garlic, fresh herbs and sherry blended with cream, pasta e fagioli, a classic farmer's soup served with fettunta bread, and tortellini filled with Parma ham and cooked in a beef and chicken consommé. The à la carte menu lists hearty main course options like Caesar salad with char grilled chicken breast, duet of scallops and king prawns served with fine egg noodle pasta, linguine alla marinara, and medallions of prime Scottish fillet of beef in a pepper, red wine and balsamic vinegar sauce. The restaurant also offers a flambé selection of main course dishes as well as desserts. Put away a glass or bottle of wine from Sicily, Verona, Chile or New Zealand.

The ambiance and the food were second to none. The mussels — 'Cozze' were the freshest that the West Coast had to offer. The steak with the green pepricorn sauce was marvellous. No silly wee girly Nouvelle cuisine portions here! We will be back.

Booked a table at this restaurant and got a deal of £15.95 for three courses, coffee, liqueur and an Auchentosh whisky. I was not sure what to expect as it seemed too good an offer to be true. The food was fantastic as was the presentation of it, especially the dessert, the service was very good, and the surroundings were lovely. It has to be the best meal that we have had in a long time. I would have to rate it 10/10.
