Pistachio Description
Formerly Viva, the restaurant is now under new ownership and has had a dramatic refurbishment allowing for extra covers and a comfortable lounge area for those who prefer to relax with a coffee.
The restaurant's extensive menu includes dishes as diverse as fresh pappardelle pasta with spiced meatballs, pomodoro sauce and parmesan shavings, to roast Highland haggis, beetroot and grilled black pudding salad with mustard dressing.
Seafood lovers will see their taste buds satisfied with a special from the grill menu offering tuna tornedo, sea bass and squid tube, each served with either lobster bisque or winter nage and baked fennel, petit salad and char grilled citrus fruit. And this is in addition to the potted shrimp and Cornish crab available as starters and pan fried salmon and plaice fillets - a veritable fruits de mer platter!
It's far too easy to while away the time in the relaxing yet stylish surroundings of Pistachio with morning coffee, a delicious lunch, afternoon drinks or a leisurely evening meal all on the cards. And for those who like to party the night away, the restaurant is located above sister bar Vinyl whose live entertainment is popular across Liverpool.

Your Reviews of Pistachio
The Very Hungry Caterpillar (24 April 2009)
After reading reviews for Pistachio my boyfriend and I decided to head there for a birthday meal. I have to say we were both thoroughly disappointed. Whilst the service was not bad the food was not of a particularly high standard. For starters I had what was supposed to be spinach and ricotta tartlets, whilst my boyfriend had meatballs with pasta. My tartlets were lukewarm and, whilst not terrible, were not as good as I was expecting. The meatballs came in a rather large portion for a starter but did not taste bad. For the main course my boyfriend had a calzone and I had a lamb shank with mash potato. The lamb was tough, hard to cut away from the bone, very fatty and tasted greasy whilst the mash was lumpy and felt like wallpaper paste in my mouth. As for the calzone, my boyfriend said the frozen one we had got from a local supermarket tasted better. The meals saving grace were the desserts. I had a crème brûlée whilst my boyfriend had 'flake' cheesecake. Both were rather nice. Alas they were not enough to make up for average starters and less than average mains. I can safely say that overall the food wasn't that good and was fairly expensive. I've had much better for less. My boyfriend and I shan't be dining at this particular restaurant again.

I'm a regular at this place and it is quite frankly the best restaurant in the south of Liverpool by far, with friendly staff and amazing food. Went there at Xmas and I can tell you now, for £14.95 the food could easily set you back by at least £50 elsewhere.
