Plantation Caribbean Restaurant
223 Cheltenham Road, Cotham, Bristol, BS6 5QP
There is more to the Caribbean than just those miles of blue beaches and white sands; their cuisine is an eclectic mix of Spanish, French, African and even Asian influences. If a trip to any of those exotic islands has been eluding you, head to Plantation on Cheltenham Road, Bristol for an unusual culinary experience. Done up in bright colours with paintings by local artists, potted plants and other tropical touches, the ambience is pleasant and service is friendly. Typical starters there include ackee, an egg shaped fruit, and saltfish, reputed to be the national dish of Jamaica. You could then move on to the main course of curry goat, tender pieces of mutton marinated in traditional spices, or the famous jerk chicken, cooked in Jamaica's authentic sauce and end with coconut pancakes served with vanilla ice cream. There is more to the Caribbean than just those miles of blue beaches and white sands; their cuisine is an eclectic mix of Spanish, French, African and even Asian influences.
