Plough Inn Description
An honest pub where the business of eating is not allowed to get in the way of a pub's primary function. That said the home cooking is much valued by locals and visitors alike who flock in appreciable numbers for what they clearly regard as a good deal. If the roast pork in smoked bacon with apricot and ginger sauce is anything to go they certainly have a point. Good beers and an adequate range of wines.

I've been eating roast beef for over thirty years and to get good roast beef when playing away is always going to be a tough game. The Plough Inn served me and my girlfriend possibly the finest sirloin of beef, fresh and perfectly cooked. The result was amazing. I think the The Plough Inn is designed for Sundays. Keep it up.
Mr J. Mckee (18 December 2006)
On Sunday 17th December 2006 twelve of us lunched by appointment at the Plough Inn. Most of us enjoyed a variety of dishes with the exception of three people who found the fish pie more bread crumbs and sliced potatoes than fish but the meal was spoiled by the cacophony of noise from the adjoining table where about 8/9 children were seated with four adults. The noise was so deafening that we could not hear what was being said by the person opposite. Any sort of reasonable conversation was completely impossible.
Eventually one of our number went to the bar and complained. The manager was upstairs. The complaint was received very sympathetically by the bar man/waiter but he neither passed it on nor spoke to the offending table.
Eventually, on leaving, the manager appeared and we complained to him in person but received neither an apology nor sympathy. In fact his attitude throughout our complaint was quite confrontational with not a spark of regret when we declared that after patronising the pub regularly for the past few years we would not be returning. He maintained it was a family pub and one must expect screaming children as part of the scene. The fact that it was deafening seemed immaterial
