It used to be so good, but not any more. I was a regular visitor until I had one bad meal, which I sent back, as it was not what I was expecting. The pork medallion in sticky chilli sauce was my favourite dish and something I ordered religiously. On this occasion it was pork in a sauce of tomato, sugar and some red peppers. I sent it back and the same dish was returned to me with a bit of Tabasco stirred in. I complained again and was not charged.

I returned more recently thinking I'll give it another chance, after all I've been going there for about fifteen years. They had run out of the pork medallions, which was strange as it was only 8.30pm. I was encouraged to try the steak fajitas by the waitress, which I did. I was expecting thin strips of steak, which I could wrap in the tortillas but it was a whole piece of steak, cooked whole within an inch of it's life, then cut into slices about an inch wide, put into a dish and had a sauce of tomato, sugar and red pepper poured over it, shoved under the grill and delivered to my table. On noticing my untouched steak the waitress enquired if everything was to my satisfaction, to which I replied no and she shrugged and left me to it. It’s such a shame, for a once good bistro to go completely down the pan. Perhaps locals are not catered for anymore, just the unassuming tourist who passes through.

This is one among York's best diner. The dinner was excellent, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was great. The food was really good and the best thing was not being rushed, even though it was reasonably busy. I would definitely go again and recommend it.
