Pod Bar Restaurant Description

An interesting place put together by graduates from the Liverpool Hope University's Owner-Manager training course. The basis of its food are tapas drawn from cuisines international, and numbering a choice of around thirty, a clever idea producing interesting and, in some cases, elegant results. The result is place which buzzes with activity and interesting people, though it has to be said this is no thanks to the wine list. When that achieves the same quality as the food they'll have a winner.

Having spent the day in Liverpool, my friends and I decided to go and see the famous Penny Lane. It was a big disappointment. As we were wandering around Allerton, we decided to eat in Pod. That was another mistake. We paid exorbitant prices for what was obviously very average food.

I have eaten at Pod on numerous occasions and it has a real good vibe, with a mixed bag of people enjoying chilled out dining. The food is always good, with lots of choice and the service is friendly. It is not the place to go if you are really hungry, as it is more about chatting and nibbling. The lunch menu is always good and everything is reasonably priced. A nice lunch, with coffee or soft drink will cost no more than £10, add a pudding and a few glasses of wine in the evening and you are probably talking £15-£20 each.
