Popeseye - Upper Richmond Road Description
The Pope's Eye is another name for Rump steak, and naturally the restaurant concentrates on being a carnivore's paradise, with this in mind I fully understand that it would not everybody's cup of (Beef) tea. But, if like me, you laugh in the face of gout and marvel at marbled steaks, then this tucked-away haven of all things fleshy and succulent is not to be missed, especially as the quality of their meat is quite superb. Friendly, homely and with a real neighbourhood feel, then The Pope's Eye manages to create a relaxed and fun environment - do note that they do not accept credit cards.

My perfect restaurant - wonderful steaks and a great selection of clarets. Friendly and unpretentious. It's so easy these days to go somewhere and spend a significant amount on what is often pretty ordinary food - we now tend to stay in more and cook, or else go to the Popeseye. We're very lucky having this place as our local.

The place is no match for Gaucho Grill, save yourselves the trouble and go there. The prices are the same if not more and the steaks are nowhere nearly as good. The chips came straight from the deep fat fryer laced with oil, very similar to your local fish and chip shop.
