Portobello Gold Description
London's first gastro pub opened its doors in 1985, and after more than two decades of service, it still stands strong. Located in Notting Hill, Portobello Gold promises guests a delightful experience each time they stop by, from tasty food and drink amidst dense tropical vegetation and stunning rooftop views, to cocktails such as the renowned Oyster Shooter that was born at the pub.
The conservatory restaurant offers a mainly seafood menu of dishes from around the world, and an all-day traditional Sunday lunch. And since it's a pub there are imaginative and reasonably priced wines, classic cocktails, beers, tequilas, and good quality rum.
Seven bedrooms offer free wireless internet and the pub also has a cyber café with facilities like printing, scanning, faxing, and lamination.

Two of us had been there to eat having read about the restaurant as an early gastro pub. It isn't anymore. There were no tables set up for lunch by 12.50 p.m. No one was drinking in there, no one eating in there, and naturally there was a dire atmosphere in an empty room. The menu was short and standard pub-grub, while there was no smell of cooking, garlic or whatever. There were only two draught beers at the bar and one of those had run out. We were so put off we went elsewhere to eat. Something dire seems to have happened in the last three years after they had a fire I gather.
