I last ate here about five years ago and remembered a good experience. We went again on Saturday in June 2011. A very busy restaurant, especially before the nearby theatre performances. My wife had the fishcakes which were excellent. I had the cannelloni. Every Italian makes them differently, and whilst this was not the best I have had, it was most acceptable. My wife’s chicken main was very good with a flavoursome sauce. I had beef pieces in garlic and oil - a pseudo British dish. I should always remember to keep to Italian dishes in an Italian restaurant. It was ok, but nothing special, an average cut of meat and quite dry. The lack of vegetables on either dish was a surprise. I had an Italian sweet which was basically ice cream with espresso coffee poured over, and was surprisingly good. The wine list is excellent but vastly overpriced, even the house wines at in excess of £13. I recently had a superb Pinot Grigio for £13.95 in a southern restaurant. All in all, it is a restaurant to be recommended, especially in the quality of the staff - always attentive, willing to be helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I have an inkling that if I still lived in Stoke on Trent I would be a regular here.
