Prince of India

70 Preston Street, Faversham, ME13 8PA

Conveniently located in Faversham's high street, Prince of India offers a relaxed and artistic atmosphere to enjoy a romantic meal, a work party, or an evening out with the family. The restaurant opened in late 2006 and has since become a favoured destination for both traditional and innovative Indian cuisine. Starters of salmon tikka, sheek kebab and tandoori king prawns lead to a main course of curries such as the balti, Persian or passanda, the flavoursome rice dish of biryani, or all-in-one thalis. Chef Shahjahan Ahmed's best creations comprise lau tarkari, chicken or lamb cooked with red pumpkin in a rich sauce blended with coriander, onions, and capsicum; modhucash murgh, aromatic and mildly spiced chicken cooked with cashew nuts and honey, and delightful pan-fried Bangladeshi fish called roopchanda ocean.

Vegetarian sides embrace the popular palak paneer of spinach and Indian cottage cheese, and tangy Bombay potatoes among other choices. Pilau rice, assorted nan bread, chutneys, and raitha accompany the food.

A cup of tea, coffee or Indian desserts help end the meal perfectly.

REVIEWS OF Prince of India

Gavin (29 April 2009)

As a pescatorian I'm always on the look out for a decent fish selection. Curry houses rarely pass muster and mostly restrict themselves to prawns. Prince of India is an excpetion. There's calamari or scallops stir-fried in Kerala spices, and a salmon tikka starter. The tandoori specials feature a whole trout marinated in a garlic sauce served with onions and mushrooms. The biran mass gata and a fish bhuna uses Bangladeshi boal fish as does the Roopchada Ocean piece de resistance. A good place and local deliveries are free and come with a variety of free goodies depending on the size of the order.

This is without doubt the best Indian restaurant if Faversham, a must visit - good service and a fair price. The food is of the best quality I have tasted for a long time, which has prompted me to take many customers and friends here and will carry on doing so. I opened this restaurant as the Mayor and used it for some charity raising events to which they where always happy to participate. Go and have a look you will be surprised at what’s on offer.
