My girlfriend and I often visit this restaurant as we live close by. I have read some of the other reviews, and I do admit that the service and the quality of food vary, but I think of late this has changed. Recently refurbished and enlarged to now include a separate bar and seating area whilst you wait to be seated, the restaurant I believe has greatly improved since the summer. Yes, the three course menu is limited on the starters, but for the mains you do have a choice of any pizza or pasta on the main menu. I can also recommend trying the steak or chicken dishes for a special night out, they are generally very good. All in all, it is a pretty decent restaurant in a lovely setting.

I took my wife and my son there for their birthdays last Thursday for lunch. Initial impressions were good and the members of staff were friendly. We ordered from the £6.95 lunch menu for starter, main and ice cream. There were only two choices for starters and we opted for the potato skins. They were quite tasty and came with tomato sauce and a garlic dip. My son and I then ordered the calzone pizza. I asked for mine with extra garlic and my son’s as it was described on the menu. The pizzas were placed in front of us and I asked which had the extra garlic. The waitress did not know and took both the plates away to the kitchen, she came back a short while later, put them in front of us again and told us they both had extra garlic. My son was happy to eat it but half way through found the garlic too strong and was completely put off having anything else to eat. When they staff took our plates I told them and there was no apology. When the bill came they had charged me 10p each for the extra garlic and left the price of the calzone on the bill. I did not make anything of it as I did not wish to upset my wife and son on their birthdays. I also felt the restaurant was very hot considering there were only a few people in at the time.
