Puncheon
Davy's, Unit 5, Cowcross Place, Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6DQ
Taking its name from a large oak wine barrel that can vary in capacity from about 80 to 133 gallons, the Puncheon is a modern wine bar with well lit, spacious interiors and a large outside terrace for al fresco dining. Its location in Cowcross Place, a short hop from Farringdon station, makes it a convenient pit stop after work or for a quick working lunch by day. Customers can unwind within interiors of blond-wood floors and a glass-panelled bar or chill outdoors, weather permitting. Puncheon's lunch menu could include smoked salmon sandwiches, burgers, haddock and salmon fishcakes, chicken liver pâté, bangers and mash, roast chicken and sea bass. Main course options for dinner are warm grilled corn fed chicken Caesar salad with a sourdough crostini, linguine with baby spinach, tomatoes and pine nuts, hand carved Alderton ham and two free range eggs and handmade steak burger with coleslaw and chipped potatoes.Puncheon's lunch menu could include smoked salmon sandwiches, burgers, haddock and salmon fishcakes, chicken liver pâté, bangers and mash, roast chicken and sea bass. REVIEWS OF Puncheon
Pip macKay (16 March 2009)
What a fantastic place! The service was great, buzzy atmosphere and the staff could not do enough for you. I will make this a regular pit stop whenever I am in the area - congrats to such a great team of people.
