Punchinello Description
Punchinello is Nottingham's oldest established restaurant and is centrally located on Forman Street, opposite the Cornerhouse complex and across the road from The Royal Centre and Concert Hall. The inside must be seen to be believed as it was converted from three cottages in 1690, it retains many original features and on cold winter nights boasts open fires on both floors.
In the summer you can enjoy eating outside continental style on the pedestrianised street, but don't be surprised if you find yourself being photographed by visitors and tourists - it is a listed building after all! It offers good value set lunchtime and pre-theatre menus and is understandably popular, booking is recommended.
Fixed Lunch
- £10.95 (2 courses) to £12.95 (3 courses)
Fixed Dinner
- £12.95 (2 courses), pre theatre
Your Reviews of Punchinello
Rich (25 June 2008)
I was advised to visit Punchinello's for a meal but was pretty disappointed - the menu was boring, the food took quite a long time to be served and it wasn't great. I had chicken and pesto mash, but it was a bit dry and just generally quite bland, added to that I thought the meal was hugely overpriced.

After looking at the rather surprisingly good menu, my partner and I were excited to eat at the oldest restaurant in Nottingham. We were pleased to be in an intimate and cosy atmosphere with traditional features but the rest of the evening was disappointing. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive. The waitress was rather unpleasant and the food was bland. My partner's sea bass was overcooked and had too much butter while my duck was tough. The starters were expensive and didn’t taste good. We did not try the desserts but the wine was pleasant.
