Punitha's Description
For the lucky residents of Cardiff, Punitha's represents not just any Indian restaurant but an exclusive gourmet experience which is considered by many to be the epitome of fine South Indian dining in South Wales. The decor does away with the reds and oranges you can typically spot in curry houses and instead sports a refreshing combination of white and deep blue which is restful as well as sophisticated. Spices as well as chefs are imported directly from South India, so authenticity is never in question.
Amongst starters, you could try the chicken lollipops, wings marinated in garam masala and yoghurt and fried with corn flour before moving on to a main course of hot and spicy Chettinadu mutton curry with freshly ground chillies, coriander, fennel and coconut. Finish the meal with payasam, a warm South Indian dessert made from sago, cashew nuts and milk. Wines on Punitha's list complement the food perfectly while the range of cocktails is exciting.

I agree with the comments posted by other customers. I visit many restaurants and post my reviews and I do the same for Punitha's. Every time I have visited this place, the food taste has been excellent and the service has been very good. I would like to say that their takeaway service is excellent and recommend them for rushers, it’s good value for money and the taste is the same as the dine in. It’s a family friendly restaurant and they do outdoor catering as well. You must try their speciality dishes as they are unique and tasty.
Mel'n'Faith (15 November 2009)
We ate here for the first time last night, and we're very pleased. We booked a table for early evening and so the restaurant was quiet at first, but filled up steadily as we progressed through our delicious meal. Service is very good; we're just beginning to try out South Indian cooking, and so we needed help in choosing the menus. The waiter gave advice enthusiastically and carefully about the relatively unfamiliar dishes, and so we put together a meal that was attractive and tasty. Light, hot and tasty masala dosa to start, one shared would have plenty, but Mel went for samosas, too, and these were just as good. For the main course we chose granny's fish kulambu, mutton curry and Punitha's special fried rice. A light and flaky paratha and a vegetarian side-dish, kadamba poriyal, completed the feast. We finished the meal satisfied but not over full - portions are a sensible size. With Kingfisher beers and tips, the bill for two was not much over £40.
