Punters Bistro Description

Punters Bistro is situated in the middle of the Salford University campus and has been established for over 21 years. Punters Bistro is a 'bring your own' restaurant and this is one of the reasons for its long-lasting success, along with the fairly straightforward English food that has a French twist of course!

Punters is a small, intimate and unpretentious restaurant with friendly staff; the owner Tracy is usually around chatting to people. Customers should book tables to avoid disappointment and don't forget to bring your own wine (Corkage 50 pence per head)!

Starters could run from sizzling garlic mushrooms; home made soup; spinach pancake mornay to Punters mussels au gratin. Whilst mains might offer braised lamb henry in a rich onion and red wine gravy; strips of beef fillet sautéed in Cajun spices with onions and peppers finished in a peppercorn sauce, served with rice or hot chicken salad, chicken breast either chargrilled or Cajun spiced, loaded with sautéed onions and cheese on a crisp salad, as well as several vegetarian options.

Your Reviews of Punters Bistro

Halletts (23 October 2009)

We have been there on many occasions because of the quality of the food and the excellent service set in a lovely atmosphere. Well done to the chef and all the staff.

VW (20 February 2009)

I have driven past Punters for many years but never got around to going in for a meal until last year, I regret all those wasted years. Now that I have been there a few times I cannot wait for my next visit next week.

It can't be every restaurant that can claim to have had an elephant as one of the star attractions at its opening, but Zouk Manchester did. Alright, so it was a baby elephant and it was on the stage ...
