Aztec is a modern, well-equipped spa hotel, designed for an increasingly mobile public, not just reluctantly mobile businessmen. As such it takes matters of eating with due reverence, and familiar dishes dominate the menu with a generosity that appeals. Starters, some of which double as main courses, could consist of a smoked and poached salmon terrine, sauté of Cornish crab chillies or a tempura of tiger prawns with a brisk dipping sauce. Main courses offer a variety of fish dishes with the main ingredient fresh from Brixham, pan-fried duck, a very good roasted rack of Welsh lamb and Parmesan polenta for those of a certain disposition.
