Quayside Bar & Brasserie

The Quayside Bar is located in a pretty cobbled side street just off the riverside in Sandwich. A couple of outdoor tables allow for alfresco dining whilst inside the decor is neutral "brasserie"-style with low lighting. The dishes offered were fairly standard: seafood tagliatelle was light and delicate, with a decent selection of white fish, mussels and prawns, whilst sea bass, though overdone, was tasty enough with accompaniments of aioli, spinach and sauté potatoes. House rose was decent value too. But the place is let down by service that was slow and irritable: upon asking why the mains had taken nearly 40 minutes to arrive, on a quiet afternoon, the waitress - who we later found out was also the owner - sniped: "because that's how long it takes to cook." One only hopes, for the sake of the fish, that she doesn't work in the kitchen too.
