A typical handsome Hampshire pub which certainly sells beer, and good beer too but is heavily dedicated towards the provision of what is sometimes referred to as pub grub. All too often there is a derogatory flavour to this handle, but it certainly does not apply here. Handsomely large helpings of good, well-prepared and mainly familiar food appear by means of brusque but friendly service and the place has real buzz. Such old favourites as steak and ale pie, bread and butter pudding, and genuine custard, like it or not, are frequently called for. What a lovely surprise! New management, new chef with a great menu ranging from traditional English dishes to fantastic authentic Thai dishes. The Thai starter combo was both delicious and well priced and the geng kiawan green curry was fantastic and clearly homemade to the highest standard, mouth-wateringly good. We were greeted by Darren, the manager who immediately made us feel comfortable and genuinely welcome, he even provided tasters of some of his guest ales - they were great. It's well worth a visit - I'm sure you won’t be disappointed.

We ate at Queen’s Head last Sunday. The roast meal was hot and there was plenty of it. I would have preferred vegetables in a separate dish even if it was for the whole table. They had a starter, which was silly as it rather filled you up before main meal. The members of staff were very pleasant and helpful. They were not very busy, but then it was a really miserable day weather-wise.
