Quirinale
1 Great Peter Street, London, SW1P 3LL
The area around the Houses of Parliament is not renowned for the quality of its restaurants, strangely the occupants are apparently more interested in talking than eating, but along has come Quirinale to boost the overall level. Italian in style it has quickly established an excellent reputation, as well as being a light, bright and airy place to enjoy a meal, surprisingly as it is housed in a semi-basement, a tribute to clever design. The restaurant has become a favourite amongst politicians and media types from the many television stations based close by. Service, which is friendly and relaxed complements the food: excellent beef carpaccio with triangles of pecorino cheese; pea soup with pancetta and goat's cheese, or a salad of air-cured ham, veal sweetbreads and truffle oil.The area around the Houses of Parliament is not renowned for the quality of its restaurants, strangely the occupants are apparently more interested in talking than eating, but along has come Quirinale to boost the overall level. Main courses include: roast monkfish wrapped in speck; roast wild salmon trout with caramelised shallots; tortellini filled with ricotta and bottarga and rib-eye steak with rosemary. The menu changes seasonally and many ingredients are sourced directly from Italy by the Northern Italian chef.

REVIEWS OF Quirinale
Newlyweds (26 April 2010)
We decided to hold a wedding reception at this restaurant as we had a large number of young children in the guest list, and Il Quirinale can be booked for exclusive use. The manager, Valentina, was extremely accommodating and efficient in the period leading up to the actual event. The service on the day was incredibly discreet. As for the food, my Italian guests stated that it was as good as any top quality ‘real Italian’ restaurant. Dainty and flavoursome canapes, succulent scallops and prawns on crema di cannellini beans, a delicate but zesty asparagus crespella, a tender Angus steak followed by an aromatic fruit salad and torta millefoglie, and of course the wines, all specifically matched to the menu by the skilled manager, extolled praise from all parties. I'd recommend Il Quirinale any day!
Charles Croft (20 June 2009)
It's a great treat to eat there. Attention to detail is refreshing, clean sharp and crisp table settings, large choice of fresh homemade breads with great homemade pasta and classics such as saltimbocca to match.
