Yes, very traditional indeed and none the worse for it. There is a wonderful atmosphere as loyal aficionados of James and Mary Hannan's place come and go. The cuisine is essentially English and French with occasional flights of fancy. Local ingredients are splendidly conspicuous by their presence. The home money is on the Dutch calves' liver with oak smoked bacon, amply supported by the home-made bread and butter pudding, a real treat for connoisseurs of this very special dish. Prices are certainly not going to cause anxiety and with house wine starting at £8.95 the way is cleared for complete enjoyment.British, Seafood

Want to celebrate a special occasion? – Don’t book here. We had a reservation for 18th December. Raffles phoned the night before and cancelled it - a party booking they had wanted to look after, increased its numbers. Raffles couldn't seat us all and felt it made commercial sense to cancel our reservation. They offered to accommodate us on any other night and give us a free bottle of wine - my once in a life 40th dinner was wrecked. Their priority is on making money, not customer service or honouring an agreement they made. Food may be reputed to be good - but do you want to run the risk of your special occasion being wrecked? - My recommendation is steer well clear of this restaurant.
