Rajdoot - Birmingham Description

Yes, this is the same Rajdoot that used to be at Albert Street, now transferred to its city centre location and doing brisk business. However, there's nothing brisk about the service and ambience which is smooth and self assured, making for a restful and civilised occasion. Rajdoot is one of those agreeable Indian restaurants where the emphasis is on delicacy of approach, particularly when it comes to reaching for the spices. Remember to include the Rajdoot Platter, a starter dish for 2 made up of chicken shashlik, shish kebab, tandoori chicken and samosa served with onion kulcha.

I have eaten at Rajdoot on three occasions, over the past three years, all in the original location. I went back, because the food is well prepared and I am not aware of another Birmingham city centre restaurant that serves better food. However, the service is poor, the portions are very small and the price is very inflated. Overall Rajdoot is not worth the price. After three visits and no improvement in any of these areas, the next time I am in Birmingham I will be trying to find an alternative and won't be visiting Rajdoot again.

Service was good and the food was of an excellent standard. They may have won awards for this, but they won't win any awards for generosity; the portions were pretty small considering the inflated prices. I won't be going back.
