Rani

7 Long Lane, Finchley, London, N3 2PR

Rabid carnivores should stay away from Rani - there is absolutely nothing for you there. But for the vegetarians of this world there are treats drawn mainly from the Kathiawadi region of Gujarat, such as kachori, a deep-fried pastry dish with lentil and sultana filling served with tamarind sauce or lilotri sak, slow cooked Kenyan aubergine, broad beans, green beans, peas, and potatoes with subtle spices. This has been a huge success for the Pattni family since they started in 1984, and has developed a loyal following, both for its quality and reasonable prices. Enthusiastic service but a wine list of only one red and one white, both at £9.70. Options in the form of beer, spirits and fragrant herbal teas are to hand.

REVIEWS OF Rani

Andre (15 January 2010)

I have been a regular customer with my family since Rani opened 25 years ago. We never had a bad meal. Not too oily and very well flavoured dishes. Super buffet! I cannot fault the restaurant. Superb!

Valji Sonara (11 November 2008)

This is one of the best places to eat in style, with a good décor and top food. I ordered fifteen items and I would rate all five stars in taste and presentation. If you want quality vegetarian food, Rani’s is the best place; once you taste the food you will stop going to silly places in Wembley. Keep it up Rani.
