As good a place as you'll find in the area before making your long-planned (or perhaps spontaneous even) visit to the nearby flagship NT garden property. Run by Hugh and Leonora Rankin, there is a fixed-price regime operating, no supplements and some very attractive choices. We had the salmon with mussel choucroute and parsley cream sauce followed by the prune and Armagnac fool and were delighted. The day was warm, the previous day's wedding had been arduous in the wrong sense and the beauties of Sissinghurst gardens beckoned, as did an excellent bottle of Chablis chosen from a sensible wine list.British

On Wednesday in September 2010 we had a delicious dinner at Rankins Restaurant. The outstanding combination and surprising ingredients were of a superb quality. A warm welcome and fine service completed this into an excellent visit. We certainly can recommend this charming restaurant for those who love good food in a pleasant ambiance.

What a lovely place! We went there after a really long week and immediately relaxed after the warm welcome by Lee. Now the food - the confit duck with a curry spiced sauce was absolutely spot on. Champagne and wine were excellent and dessert - a raspberry pavlova was heaven. For anyone who looks for a special place and enjoys fantastic food, this is the place to go.
