Rasa Maricham Description

Rasa is one of those Indian words that conveys so much with its very name; flavour, taste, pleasure, delight, and all this becomes apparent at the Rasa group of restaurants that are renowned for bringing tasty southern Indian food to UK. Rasa Maricham which is located within the Holiday Inn at King's Cross Road is their first and highly successful attempt at creating a concept restaurant; this one is based on pepper, the evocative Indian spice which is fondly or euphemistically called black gold.

The menu features a delightful range of starters, crunchy snacks such as vadais, fried lentil dumplings or bondas, spiced and mashed potatoes dipped in chickpea flour and fried. Don't miss the stir fried prawn masala cooked with ginger, curry leaves, chilli and tempered with crushed black pepper and fresh lemon juice and appams, spongy rice pancakes perfect for soaking up the delicious curries. Finish with the creamy payasam, a delectable concoction of rice cooked in boiling milk with cashew nuts and raisins.

Your Reviews of Rasa Maricham

Lynn Bradworth (12 August 2009)

It is not very inviting from the outside, but the experience is really recommendable. The atmosphere is sober in pale pink colours and soft, local music, traditional floor lamp, burning incense and linen tablecloths, warm plates, and candles on the table. It has a small but interesting menu and the quality of the food doesn't disappoint either. The food is professionally made with balance in taste based on natural ingredients rather than the spice shelf. The service is friendly and efficient holding the right distance, providing privacy. Pricing, I would say is attractive, but 12.5% of the whole bill amount is charged for service automatically, which I didn’t like. 10% is ok, but anything more than that should be left to the discretion of customers. If you are in town this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I would definitely recommend this place.
