Red Peppers - Birmingham
117 Wharfside Street, The Mailbox, Birmingham, B1 1RF
This is one of those places where relaxing atmosphere and good food blend to create a comfort zone that draws you back within its doors, time and again. Red Peppers, with outlets in Birmingham, Esher and Teddington, has unpretentious décor and friendly staff, and has become a lunch time favourite for many. In summer, you can sit outside and enjoy your meal on the terrace overlooking the canal. The menu has a few international undertones with Thai and Mexican influences creeping in and starters such as small rack of baby back ribs or smoked mackerel pâté. But it is the pizzas there which hold the most appeal, with a range of at least eleven to choose from carrying toppings that include chicken fajita, goat's cheese and eggs Florentine. This is one of those places where relaxing atmosphere and good food blend to create a comfort zone that draws you back within its doors, time and again. REVIEWS OF Red Peppers - Birmingham
Samantha (21 February 2009)
There was an excellent atmosphere inside with marvellous views and this was an extremely attractive restaurant, however, unfortunately for me and my party we didn’t have such a great experience, mailbox branch, as the above reports. On being seated we waited 20 minutes to be asked for drinks, the drinks took a further 10 minutes to arrive. When the food arrived in good time, my colleague’s order was completely incorrect, so we called over the waitress who was apologetic but in an unconvincing manner, basically she seemed rather fake with expressing her concerns. When the returned food arrived the remainder of the party had eaten their meals, leaving my colleague to eat alone. When the manager came over to our request there were no apologies but he did offer to subtract the price of the returned meal off our bill. After this we decided that perhaps we could find some satisfaction from their desserts, the two ordered desserts, took 20 minutes to arrive and 10 minutes apart in arrival. Finally at the end of the visit upon a very expensive payment, the waitress slammed down the receipts on the table and walked off. I do not have any known explanation as to why we got treated the way we did, myself and my colleagues were genuinely embarrassed and empathetic with the waitress when explaining that our orders were incorrect, however throughout the entire experience we did not once receive a direct apology from either the manager on shift or the waitress assigned to our table.

I went there for a nice meal out with my partner wanting good food without paying the earth. Brilliant, the place had a lively, yet not rowdy atmosphere, and the service was very fast and efficient without being in your face. The food was really good, I mean you are not talking Michelin stars but then you are not paying for it either. I would say the portions are rather large but that’s nothing to complain about. Nachos, chilli bean lasagne, moussaka and a bottle of red went down nicely. I was very happy with the night as a whole.
