Regatta Restaurant Description
Unashamedly devoted to the provision of well-presented, mainly locally sourced seafood this popular restaurant is renowned for its themed happenings including Japanese evenings, an Orford Lobster week and an Irish Oyster and Stout week. At other times consider the Aldeburgh sprats; half a dozen oysters with red wine vinegar dip; bruschetta with saute of wild mushrooms or Mediterranean fish soup with rouille, followed by griddled fillet of mackerel with roast peppers and basil oil; red Thai chicken curry with rice and side salad or aubergine, tomato and mozzarella "cake" with tomato coulis and new potatoes. Puddings could include, rich chocolate pot with Amaretto liqueur and Amaretti biscuits and banana bread and butter pudding with sticky sauce. Fairly brief wine list, prices generally under £20 a bottle, House French from £10.50 or £2.50 a glass.

Your Reviews of Regatta Restaurant
HC (9 April 2007)
My friend and I had a fantastic meal at Regatta the other evening (April 2007). Service was friendly, prompt and unobtrusive.
There were 5 or 6 fishy specials as well as the main menu, from which I chose a dozen langoustines served with melted butter, salad and chips for £16. I got 14 delicious langoustines which made up for not getting any salad (didn't query it as wasn't bothered.) Best chips in the world! My friend's steak (£15.50) was perfectly cooked too.
I didn't enjoy my dessert of pistachio cheesecake (£5) but this was a personal thing, not that anything was wrong with it. Regatta is famous locally for its fudge and Malteser ice-cream (£3.50) and this didn't disappoint my friend who is, by her own admission, "not really an ice cream person".
We washed it all down with a £15 bottle of Muscadet sur Lie which was delicious.
