Restaurant 65 Description
Owner operated, contemporary, thirty cover restaurant serving Modern British cuisine to a high standard in a smart, relaxed and informal environment with professional and attentive service. This culminated in the Award of a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2008.
Their menus change on a regular basis and all the ingredients are delivered and prepared daily by the head chef. They only use seasonal produce of the highest quality using small independent local suppliers - organic and free range wherever possible, with full product traceability.
A typical dinner menu might offer starters of crispy tiger prawns with sweet chilli and soy dipping sauces; balsamic roasted tomato bruschetta with wild rocket and basil oil or glazed goat's cheese with roasted beetroot, toasted pine nuts and Bramley apple dressing.
Mains of tenderloin of pork with sweet potato gratin, honey glazed parsnips, sage red wine jus or roasted fillet of cod with citrus, herb couscous, Provencale vegetables, lemon dressing or Mediterranean vegetable gateau with shaved parmesan and pesto; with desserts of banana bread and butter pudding, banana ice cream, toffee sauce, white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, berry fruit coulis or chocolate fudge brownie, black cherry ice cream, chocolate sauce.

Having been told about Restaurant 65 by a friend, I took my wife there for dinner. We live in Bucks and it was not difficult to locate the place, right in the centre of the Old Town. The front of house gave us a very friendly welcome. He showed us to a nice position. The meal we had was of the highest quality and together with the wine I thought was inexpensive.
I had not noticed the Michelin Guide 2008 notice when we arrived but on leaving, my wife pointed it out, and so I went back and asked to see the Chef to congratulate him on his achievement - I learnt he was the Chef/Patron and his name was Grant. This is from my wife and myself - Grant you deserve your award, we will be back and I will certainly be telling other friends about Restaurant 65.

My wife and I with four other friends, recently had dinner at the restaurant and the comments on the food and presentation were quite overwhelming, to say the least. It is a pleasure to be able to have an enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings. Thank you Grant, and their front of house staff. I have learnt that Restaurant 65 has been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand and I feel Hemel Hempstead should be proud of Grant’s achievements. Well done, I hope it will not stop there.
