Restaurant at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel Description
A former farmhouse built of the local stone and looking out over the rapidly maturing landscape of Rutland Water, Western Europe's largest man-made lake. Of the three dining spaces we look at the Edwardian Dining Room where traditional English cuisine prevails. A homemade haddock and saffron bisque with Foccacia bread produced on the premises makes an excellent starter with a very English follow-up of char-grilled fillet of beef. The chocolate fondant with a white chocolate sorbet reads well and lives up to its billing. There is a good wine list and house wine is at £11.95.

I ate at Barnsdale Lodge with my husband and found the food, service and members of staff were excellent. The hotel is a place to go if you want to relax and enjoy each others company over an enjoyable meal. The menu is very accommodating and we will definitely return soon.

We ate at the Barnsdale Lodge main restaurant last weekend and although the food was fine, were disappointed by the quality of service and the venue. The main restaurant dining room is a through route from the kitchen door to the rest of the venue - not good and highly unconducive to an enjoyable evening. The remainder of the venue seems more like a pub with conservatory than high quality dining venue. We left with mixed feelings but probably will not return.
