Restaurant at Eslington Villa

8 Station Road, Low Fell, Gateshead, NE9 6DR

An attractive house looking out over the Team Valley, making this an ideal place for a relaxing evening or one of those prolonged Sunday lunches. In recent times there have been rumblings about the food but their chef seems to now have things under control. Grilled duck breast with French black pudding and red wine sauce or smoked haddock and chive risotto say a great deal about the cuisine, which does not lack in adventure and imagination. A set price lunch at £16.50 for two courses and dinner at £22.50 for three should not be lightly ignored and some of their other packages involving the hotel are certainly worth taking seriously. An interesting wine list helps make a meal at Eslington Villa good value in a delightful environment.

REVIEWS OF Restaurant at Eslington Villa

RuthH (7 August 2007)

Even though it was a few years ago that we ate there I feel I would like to comment as they were very helpful. Our table was in the main restaurant rather than the conservatory which we requested (they also have a private dining room). The meal was for my husband's fortieth birthday, and they allowed me to take my own personalised menus for our party of ten. The food was very good, and all of us enjoyed what we had. The only downside was some soup getting spilt on my leg off a waitress, but she did apologise and they sent a complementary bottle of champagne to the table.

We have just returned from yet another fabulous evening at the Eslington Villa. I had tempura of prawns to start and my husband had a salad of home smoked chicken. We followed with seared black bream and tornedos rossini. As usual the menus have a wide variety and we are never disappointed. The staff are very attentive. It's nice to see the owners Nick and Melanie on occasions.
