Its inspiring restaurant menus making good use of fresh local produce. Typical examples might include seared scallops with black fettucine, a warm salad of skate and dry cured bacon, a filo tart of vine tomatoes with local goat's cheese and basil oil, sea bass with a butter sauce, a fillet of prime beef with rosti potato and tomato and herb salsa or a rack of lamb with a sauté of liver, kidneys, garlic and parsley. Finish with banana crème brûlée or apple and tarragon tart.

REVIEWS OF Restaurant at Fairyhill Hotel

Leanne (16 May 2007)

Fairyhill is a lovely looking building inside and out, the decor inviting and the staff (especially the lady at front of house) very welcoming and you really do get the impression that nothing is too much trouble. We were shown to a quiet lounge to look over the menus and served with mouth watering canapés and soon after shown into the restaurant. I'm afraid this is where this disappointment kicked in. I found the dining area a little too 'cosy', with only six other tables in the room, I imagined that the atmosphere would have been intimate. Unfortunately, my partner and I and the guests at the other tables had all been seated facing into the centre of the room. As you can imagine, the atmosphere felt anything but intimate; being watched over by four other couples who looked equally as uncomfortable and unable to speak in anything louder than a whisper for fear of interrupting someone’s evening. After reading many raving reviews about Fairyhill, I really was very disappointed. The food didn't live up to the hype (taste and presentation) and overall it was an overpriced experience that I will 'put down to experience'. In future I’ll stick to Patricks!

First impressions of Fairyhill, beautiful looking place, very friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, but getting down to reviewing the food - I couldn't say that the food wasn't tasty (I had the beef) but it didn't really come to the table looking particularly interesting, to be honest my partner and I were disappointed with the amount of food that arrived and its presentation, I must say that for the price it didn't make me want to visit Fairyhill again.
