Restaurant at Glenapp Castle
Glenapp Castle, Ballantrae, KA26 0NZ
Thirty six acres of magnificent grounds and a castle that looks straight out of a fairy tale make this a most wonderful location for a hotel, and Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire does not fail to fulfil any fantasy you may have of staying in a castle. Luxurious rooms furnished with antiques and fine oil paintings lend character and the gardens with aesthetically designed shrubs provide a focal point where you can relax and enjoy the beauty around you. The restaurant has three AA rosettes proclaiming their expertise with some signature dishes such as baby artichoke tart with veal sweetbread and bay leaf foam; roasted scallops with baby leeks, crispy Parma ham and champagne velouté or pan fried turbot with tartare mash, razor clam ceviche and trompettes.Thirty six acres of magnificent grounds and a castle that looks straight out of a fairy tale make this a most wonderful location for a hotel, and Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire does not fail to fulfil any fantasy you may have of staying in a castle. REVIEWS OF Restaurant at Glenapp Castle
Tony Green. (23 January 2009)
Stayed here for two nights in November and found that the fantastic and friendly service was very welcoming. Beautiful castle with superb reception and dinning rooms.
We have eaten at dozens of great restaurants over the years and this moved straight into our top five. Excellent local produce cooked in a classical style with a hint of modernism. Would strongly recommend anyone to take a detour to experience the food and ambience.
Ashley Hildebrandt (4 June 2008)
We came here from Ayr for our fifth wedding anniversary. The fixed menu, at £55, isn't cheap but the value for money was outstanding. The food was fantastic, one of the best places we've eaten - a multi-course treat that left us full but not overly so. As expected the extensive wine selection was interesting. Beautifully furnished rooms and first rate service added to the experience. It was pleasing to note that as casual diners, rather than guests of the hotel, the welcome we received was warm and we felt genuinely welcomed. This place is highly recommended.
